Pre-Kindergarten classes meet weekly, 8:20-12:30pm, for children who will be at least 4 years of age by September 5th. Our academic Pre-K program builds upon the skills necessary to make a student fully prepared for Kindergarten. The program includes daily worship, Bible stories, activities, and memory verses. Occasional field trips and classroom visitors serve to enhance the program we have set in place. Pre-Kindergarten classes are limited to 8-10 students.
Our Pre-Kindergarten classes focus on Kindergarten readiness skills such as uppercase and lowercase letters, reading short vowel words, counting and beginning math skills, communicating verbally, developing fine motor skills, and hands-on activities with an emphasis in science and math.
Our classes focus on all of the above plus library, P.E., music, and art.
Kindergarten classes meet weekly, 8:20am-3pm, for children who will be at least 5 years of age by September 5th. Our outstanding academic program for Kindergarten cultivates skills that are needed in order to be successful in first grade. The program includes daily worship, Bible stories, memorization of scripture, and other activities. Field trips and classroom visitors serve to enhance the program we have set in place.
Kindergarten classes are limited to 8-10 students and focus on readiness skills such as uppercase and lowercase letters, reading words, identifying blends, writing sentences, counting numbers by ones, fives, tens, evens, and odds, math skills, developing fine motor skills and more. Art, library, P.E., and more are included in the student’s experience at Forerunner Christian Academy.
Elementary classes meet weekly, 8:20-3pm. Elementary grades are a critical part of a child’s education. Because of this, Forerunner Christian Academy partners with parents to ensure their child’s educational success. Our gifted teachers desire to see their students succeed and use curriculums such as Abeka and BJU Press to instruct on concepts that are grade level appropriate. Our one teacher to ten students ratio is another crucial component of our model of education.
Students in our lower elementary grades enjoy reading about various missionaries through books written by Renee Taft Meloche with YWAM Publishing, while students in the upper elementary grades read missionary books by Janet and Geoff Benge with Christian Heros, Then & Now. IOWA based Standardized Testing provides accurate feedback on how we are doing within the classroom. In recent IOWA based tests, our school averaged in the 75th percentile amongst other schools in the United States.
Daily worship and Bible study along with weekly memorization of the Scripture are a crucial part in preparing students for the days in which they live.
Junior High and High School Education
Junior High and High School classes meet weekly, 8:20-3pm. Junior High and High School are informative years that help model and shape the individual student for life beyond high school. Forerunner Christian Academy has adopted a holistic approach to education covering both academic and spiritual training. We hire qualified teachers who are committed to providing the education that the student will need in order to prepare for college. Our one teacher to twelve students ratio allows for a better learning environment while developing an atmosphere where critical thinking and a love for learning are developed. We give students a vision for leadership and train them to view every part of their world through a biblical worldview. IOWA based testing and the SAT provides accurate feedback on the student’s growth within the classroom. Our student’s scores prove that they consistantly rank well nationally on these standardized tests.
